We have a variety of barrel blanks in stock and in most cases we can contour them to your specifications in a week or two. If you want a caliber/twist rate that is not shown in some cases we will be able to order it for you but delivery times vary from 6-8 weeks for Douglas and Shilen to 6 months or more for the other barrel makers.
Contoured barrels typically have a 1" shank suitable for most single shot rifles, so if you want something larger you must let us know. We can generally accommodate custom contours, but there may be an extra charge.
Contoured barrels are polished and ready to blue. If you want it unpolished make a note and the price will be somewhat lower.
Most of our buttstock blanks are original type thick shell American walnut from the Midwest and represent the best quality that we can find. We also have a good supply of English walnut and maple. Other species are available from us in limited quantities, please contact us for more information.
We have hundreds of stock blanks and cannot photograph them all. We have made our best effort to describe the typical wood in each grade, but exact descriptions are impossible due to natural variation. When we choose a blank for your project, we will choose the nicest piece in the grade you specify which suits the size of the stock and (when appropriate) traditional figure.
If you have something very specific in mind, you can choose from our exhibition grade stock blanks or send your own wood.
Each stock and forearm is made only to order, one at a time. As a result, special features can be added in most cases. Note, however, that it is not possible to make custom stocks using a profiling machine. Delivery time is typically one month, but varies on backlog status and workload.
To place an order, specify grade of wood, pattern wanted, barrel shape (round, octagon, part octagon with length of octagon section), barrel dimensions at frame and end of forearm, location of screw hole for forearms, and any accessories or options wanted. When we receive your order, we will send you an acknowledgement which you should review carefully.
All work is guaranteed to be of good workmanship and to properly fit an original rifle. Our stocks will not fit your rifle without some handwork, since wood is left to account for variations. If your action has been altered, as many of them have, you must let us know exactly how it varies from the original or the guarantee is void. If you suspect that there has been an alteration, please send sketches; do not guess - guesses can be expensive.
This product is guaranteed to be to specifications; if not, we will either replace it or refund your money. In the case of customer wood being damaged, we will replace the wood as well. Customer wood will be run complete without regard for any defects. This warranty is the best in the business, although it does not cost us very much since few stocks ever become a problem.
